ABOUT US
Our Peace Story
The Tri-people Youth Collective for Peace of Mindanao is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering the youth of Mindanao's tri-people communities—the Katawhang Lumad (Indigenous Peoples), Bangsamoro (Muslims), and Migrant Settlers (Christians).
Founded in May 2002 during the First Mindanao Youth Peace Camp, AKMK emerged as a unifying alliance to address cultural prejudices, promote sustainable development, and strengthen youth engagement in peacebuilding. Through advocacy, capacity-building, and active participation, AKMK equips the youth to champion just, peaceful, and inclusive governance in Mindanao while fostering solidarity with global movements for lasting peace.
OUR VISION
To be a leading youth-led organization empowering the tri-people youth of Mindanao as active leaders in peacebuilding, gender and climate justice, human rights, and intersectional advocacy, contributing to the realization of a just, peaceful, and inclusive Mindanao.
OUR MISSION
AKMK is committed to empowering the tri-people youth of Mindanao by fostering their active participation in peacebuilding, preventing violent extremism, interfaith dialogue, gender and climate justice, and sustainable development. Through capacity-building initiatives, learning sessions, and grassroots campaigns, we create inclusive spaces for collaboration and solidarity across diverse sectors. By engaging with local governments, NGOs, community leaders, and security sectors, AKMK strives to amplify youth voices, celebrate intersectionality, and drive creative solutions toward a just and sustainable future for all.
OUR APPROACH
AKMK empowers the tri-people youth of Mindanao through:
- Grassroots Advocacy – Advancing youth demands via forums, workshops, immersions, mobilizations, and dialogues.
- Solidarity and Networking – Building alliances locally and globally to foster collaboration and drive change.
- Education and Research – Sharing knowledge through research, documentation, and educational materials for informed advocacy.
- Cultural and Creative Arts – Using arts like music, theater, and film to amplify youth voices and inspire action.
- Resource Mobilization – Securing sustainable support through partnerships, grants, and community campaigns.
These strategies drive youth-led peacebuilding and advocacy for a just and inclusive Mindanao
